About Launceston

Launceston is the second largest city in Tasmania, located on the banks of the Tamar River. It has a population estimated in 2021 of approx. 72,000 people. It is one of only two cities in Australia to be named as a UNESCO City of Gastronomy. A city of natural beauty with beautiful city parks and the famous Cataract Gorge, a food lovers delight in the many cafes and restaurants, and wineries in very nearby locations, Launceston has much to offer a variety of travellers looking for a place to step back and breathe some of the freshest air on the planet.
